Care of chapped lips: how to have them soft and healthy
Small daily precautions will suffice to prevent the lips from becoming dehydrated, anti-aesthetic and annoying. What generally applies to face care, can also be applied to the mouth. In fact, if a scrub is useful to facilitate the absorption of nutrients by the skin, the lips are no exception: they must be prepared to promote the penetration of balsams and cocoa butters. You can remove dead flesh from your lips even with totally home-made scrubs. How to do? An example is mixing a bit of brown sugar, honey and a few drops of lemon, you will obtain a smoothing compound to massage with.
An equally effective and perhaps even more convenient alternative is to use a toothbrush and toothpaste. Choose brushes with soft bristles like these and pass them on the lips for an exfoliating action. If you need a more abrasive action, an idea is to use a toothpaste with microgranules. These particles are able to deeply smooth the surface of the lips. Already so you will notice how the lips will become softer. But now they must be fed. Choose a good cocoa butter or a balsam, green light also to moisturising lipsticks.
After doing the scrub, which I recommend to repeat at least once a week, the lipsticks will be much better and also the effect. Nutrient formulas are particularly recommended for the winter, while lipsticks with a dry consistency that tend to dry out should be avoided. As for the scrub, even for the hydration of the lips you can resort to household methods. Mixing olive oil and honey provides a nourishing lip pack. You can also use it as a mask, spreading a film and leaving it in place until completely absorbed.
Another moisturizing wrap is created by mixing a teaspoon of yogurt with one of honey, which is then applied to the lips. A powerful ally of dry lips is sweet almond oil! You can prepare a compress by using a few drops and mixing it with some aloe vera gel. If your lips are dehydrated and irritated, maybe with some micro-cut, I suggest you to use to the “pure” aloe vera gel. It is a perfect substance that, among the various benefits, is also able to fight redness: it soothes, moisturizes and has a repairing effect on the skin tissues. Last tips: do not forget to drink a lot of water and follow a healthy diet, rich of fruits and vegetables. All these little tricks are essential for the hydration of the skin and lips: your beauty also passes from here.
