Weekend in Puglia: history, relax and good food in the masseria! During the occasion of the Fashion Puglia event mentioned in the previous post, we spent a beautiful weekend in Ostuni staying in a typical Apulian farm: Masseria il Frantoio
The sensation of feeling at home, within a large family ready to welcome you and make you feel at ease. Gentle, discreet and available to any our request and need, the staff of the masseria welcomed us and indulged for the entire duration of our stay.
Holiday in Puglia: history, relax and good food in the masseria!
The structure dates back to the 1500’s, a masseria and country farm, now transformed into a Charming Hotel and organic farm. A place full of history that will be told with passion by whom lives the masseria every day with the heart and with the soul. Seventy-two hectares of land where the structure is surrounded by secular olive trees, organic gardens and typical Apulian landscapes! Do not miss a tour of the farm on the legendary Fiat B of ’49! And then ample space to relax: from the Italian garden, to the orchard and to the pool area. Interior lounges and typical rooms available to customers where you can admire authentic items with years of history behind them kept with great care and attention by the staff. The bedrooms, where it seems to enter another era, are comfortable and cozy. Until you reach the heart of the farm: the mill! Big stone wheels originally moved by mules and then in the 800, with the arrival of the industrial revolution, moved by a motor. Today kept in perfect condition to be admired by visitors.
From rich and tasty breakfast to dinner: all prepared with organic products provided by the farm. Everything becomes homemade biscuits and cakes, tasty dishes prepared with vegetable and herbs, homemade pasta, high quality organic olive oil, herbal teas and rosé. In short, a delight for the palate with a different menu each day! For wine connoisseurs, the winery reserves seventy-five Apulian labels to be tasted.
I had never been to Ostuni and I fell in love with it! Also called “white city” because of its old town, once painted with white lime, is a characteristic Apulian town close to the sea. I will always bring a pleasant memory of this city with me, thanks to the wonderful stay in the masseria!
